Toshiba eyes Rs 25cr sales during Onam from Kerala

Toshiba India said it is targetting to sell 20,000 units of LCD LED TV sets during the Onam festival in Kerala this year, with a turnover of Rs 25 crore from the state during the season.

The company had sold 12,000 units last year, Pranabh Mohanty, Vice-President (Sales and Field Marketing), Toshiba India, told reporters here.

Kerala is one of the most promising and fastest growing markets for the company in the LCD LED category. Last year, within a short span of 3 months of its entry in the region in July last year, it created a network of around 10 distributors, along with over 70 direct dealers and around 400
sub dealers, he said.

Strong dealer network and innovative product portfolio enabled Toshiba to garner 22% market share in the state, he added.

The company has recently consolidated its LED TVs line up with the launch of new technologically advanced products. Earlier, this year, it had launched its first 3D Smart TV in India.

Toshiba expectng a year-on-year growth of 150% during Onam festival in the state and grow the busines in Kerala by around 200% this year, he said.

Shinichi Mizuuchi, General Manager Digital products, Home Applicances and Services division, said the company was targetting a market share of 13% all indian in televisions with a market size of 6 million.

Nationally, the company is planning to sell about one million units this year, he said.

He added Kerala has already achieved 22% market share and this year, it was targetting 25% market share.
