Android device activations are now at 850,000 per day, according to Google's Senior Vice President of Mobile, Andy Rubin.
Rubin made the announcement on Twitter earlier this morning:
This is up 150,000 devices a day since Google announced in December of last year that it was activating 700,000 devices daily.
To put 850,000 devices into perspective, that's nearly six million a week, or a whopping 25.5 million a month.
Google now also has 450,000 apps in the Android Market, up three fold since this time last year.
Back in December of last year I predicted that I wouldn't be surprised if Google ended upactivating 1 million Android devices daily by the end of 2012. That was based on Google now activating some 550,000 new devices a day. This official bump up to 850,000 per day makes the million figure much easier to achieve during 2012, in fact, I think it's inevitable, and may happen before June.
Anyone want to take a stab at when Android activations will surpass 1 million a day?
